    Throughout the study program, you will develop analytical, communicative, and design skills that will enable you to provide an interface between creation, marketing, and business in your later career. You will learn to analyze international trends, delve into the world of fashion brands and their sales and marketing strategies, and understand how to market products successfully via various sales channels. 

    Studying Fashion and Design Management qualifies you for challenging roles in the fashion, lifestyle, and consumer goods industry.

    The study program in Fashion & Design Management (B.A.) combines basic academic and theoretical principles with a high degree of practical application. This includes internships, company collaborations, guest lectures, and visits to trade fairs. Various corporate projects and a six-month professional internship are integral to the program and enable you to meet insiders and establish a personal network from an early stage. 

    If you are striving for an international career, you can incorporate an optional semester abroad at the prestigious Berkeley College (New York) into your study program. 

    You can also opt for the equivalent German-language study program, Mode & Designmanagement (B.A.). If you have the necessary language skills, you can even switch from the English-language program to the German program during your studies.

    During the study program in Fashion & Design Management (B.A.), you will enjoy exchanges with students from other subject areas and study programs. Each semester begins with the AMD spring or fall academy, in which participants spend a week in interdisciplinary workshops tackling topics such as design, photography/film/video, sustainability, project management, philosophy, and psychology.

    The AMD study program in Fashion & Design Management (B.A.) can be tailored to your own interests and goals for future development. In the third and fifth semesters, you will choose one of four interdisciplinary majors:

    • Staging Lab
    • Sustainability Lab
    • Brand Strategy Lab
    • Virtual Lab

    These labs are also available to students on the study programs in Fashion Design (B.A.) and Fashion Journalism & Communication (B.A.) – creating a foundation for further inspiring exchanges across subject areas.

    The Brand Strategy Lab and Sustainability Lab are particularly exciting for Fashion & Design Management (B.A.) students. If you opt for the Sustainability major and have previously attended a sustainability workshop during an AMD spring or fall academy, your academic transcript will show that you have earned a degree in Fashion & Design Management (B.A.), majoring in Sustainability.

    Whichever lab you choose, you will be qualified for popular roles that have evolved with the megatrends of digitalization and sustainability, for example in e-commerce management and sustainability consulting, communication, and reporting.

    The study program in Fashion & Design Management (B.A.) creates wide-ranging job prospects in management and marketing for the international fashion, lifestyle, and consumer goods industry. Graduates’ skills set them on course for high-responsibility roles in the clothing, wholesale, and retail sectors. 

    If you decide to work in product management, you will be responsible for planning, developing, creating, and presenting products, ranges, and collections. Purchasing involves planning and managing the compilation of ranges and collections aimed at specific target groups or trends. You will also have the skills to take on roles in customer relationship management or sourcing, which focuses on purchasing products and materials. 

    If your interests lie in marketing and brand management, you will be responsible for holistic brand identities and developing positioning strategies and communication concepts. In sales and merchandising, you will coordinate various sales channels – for example omnichannel retail management or e-commerce management – and control how brands are presented at the point of sale. Other attractive occupations include sustainability consulting, communication, and reporting.
